PSUAC Releases Chancellor's Cup Standings After Fall Championships

CHANCELLOR'S CUP STANDINGS

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa - The Penn State University Athletic Conference has released its fall standings for the Chancellor's Cup on Wednesday, the yearlong award for comprehensive excellence among PSUAC athletic departments.

Penn State Mont Alto leads the pack with 33.5 points on the strength of conference championships in women's soccer and volleyball. Mont Alto, the runners-up in last year's standings, picked up six points from their women's soccer title over Penn State Brandywine, who currently sits in second place after the fall with 29.5 points. The volleyball victory over Penn State York provided Mont Alto with the maximum a campus can get in any sport--14 points, while its golf team finished as the runners-up at the PSUAC Championship in early October.

Brandywine's total is bolstered by its men's soccer championship, which garnered them 10 points, and a runner-up finish in women's soccer. Close behind with 26 total points is Penn State Hazleton, which claimed the fourth championship of the fall semester with their golf victory. Semifinal showings in both women's soccer and volleyball boosted their totals as well.

York currently holds the fourth place position with 23 points after a third-place finish in golf and the previously mentioned runner-up finish in volleyball. Tied for fifth are western foes Penn State Beaver and Penn State Greater Allegheny with 16 total points.

The Chancellor's Cup awards points to campuses participating in PSUAC championship sports, with the champion receiving a point total equal to the number of campuses sponsoring the sport. Points are then awarded in a descending value based upon conference finish. Standings will be updated and released after the winter sports season, with the final results published in May after the spring sports season has concluded.
