Three Program Race for PSUAC Chancellor's Cup Heats up After Winter Season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference released its updated Chancellor's Cup standings on Monday after the conclusion of the winter sports season. Perennial contender Penn State Brandywine sits atop the leaderboard, breaking a tie after the fall sports season with Penn State Mont Alto.

Brandywine has 51.5 total points, with Mont Alto on their heels with 47.0. The biggest difference came in women's basketball as Brandywine made the postseason while Mont Alto did not, which accounts for the 4.5 point difference despite Mont Alto's two conference titles in the fall.

Penn State Greater Allegheny made the biggest jump in points after winning the men's basketball championship and making it to the semifinals in women's basketball. Those 25.5 points pushed Greater Allegheny into third, just a half-point behind Mont Alto. After Greater Allegheny comes a significant drop, as Penn State Lehigh Valley sits in fourth with 36.5 points after jumping three spots from their fall finish. Women's basketball champion Penn State Schuylkill rounds out the top five with 34.5 points.

No other campus jumped more than two spots, while multiple campuses fell three spots in the standings compared to their fall finish.

The PSUAC Chancellor's Cup awards points based upon conference finish in PSUAC tournaments of the conference's eight sponsored championships. Points are awarded in a descending order, with teams not making the postseason receiving points based upon their final record in regular season play.
