Bishop, Wagner Headline PSUAC Softball All-Conference Teams

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference announced its 2021 Softball All-Conference Teams on Thursday, headlined by the Players of the Year, Aspen Bishop (Penn State DuBois) and Brooklyn Wagner (Mont Alto).

Bishop hit .491 and led the conference with 44 RBIs to capture the East Division Player of the Year honors. In the West, Wagner hit four home runs and batted .402 to lead her team to a division title and take home the division's top honor as Player of the Year.

A total of 47 student-athletes from all 10 campuses with softball received postseason recognition, including 10 John Fritz Sportsmanship Award winners. DuBois dominated the East Division with seven First Team honorees, as eight campuses had at least one First Teamer. Division winner Brandywine had only one First Team honoree, but added six Honorable Mention recipients to tie DuBois with seven total honorees. West champ Mont Alto had five First Team recipients and an Honorable Mention to lead the pack in their division.

DuBois and Mont Alto swept the specialty awards, as Bishop also earned Newcomer of the Year to go along with Player of the Year. Teammate Lizzy Scott was named East Division Pitcher of the Year after earning 15 wins. In the West, Wagner was joined by teammates Kirsten Dell (Pitcher of the Year) and McKenna Sas (Newcomer of the Year) in taking home top billing. 

Mont Alto's Heath Newell earned recognition as Coach of the Year as he led his program to a 19-7 record, including 17-5 in the division to capture the West Division title. 

 

PSUAC Softball All-Conference Awards

PSUAC All-Conference awards for team sports are nominated and voted on by the member campus coaching or administrative staffs. Individual sports, golf and cross country, are based on results from the PSUAC Championship events in those respective sports.
