Admission is free for Championship Sunday. Spectators may park in the Beaver Stadium West lot or Bryce Jordan Center lot and should enter through Gate B of the BJC. All spectators must follow BJC policies, including bag restrictions. Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be permitted to be brought into the BJC; however no coolers will be allowed. Concessions will not be available on Sunday.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 2020 PSUAC Basketball Championships will be held on Sunday, March 1st in the Bryce Jordan Center on the main campus of Penn State University. The home of Penn State's Division I programs will welcome four teams as we conclude the postseason portion of the PSUAC schedule.
All four top seeds have advanced to the championship games, holding serve through the first two rounds of the playoffs. The men's championship game will start at 1:30 p.m., with the women's championship to follow at 4:00 p.m.
In the opener, Penn State York will square off with rival Penn State Mont Alto. York looks to defend their title and earn the PSUAC's automatic bid into the USCAA National Championship tournament. Both teams finished the regular season with a 17-2 conference mark in their respective divisions. In their only meeting, York topped Mont Alto 66-58 in late January. York looks for their fifth conference title in eight years, while Mont Alto hopes to claim their second since 2016.
The nightcap will see a slight reversal of roles for Penn State Beaver, who enters the game with a perfect conference record of 17-0. Last year it was Beaver who was trying to end a perfect record--Lehigh Valley's--but were unable to do so. The Lions exacted some revenge on Friday, topping Lehigh Valley in the semifinals but now Beaver will put their perfect conference slate on the line in the championship as perennial contender Penn State Brandywine looks to knock them off their perch. Beaver won the only regular season match-up in mid-January, 86-66. The teams have combined to win 11 of the previous 13 PSUAC Championships, with Beaver winning seven and Brandywine claiming four titles since 2007.
