Senior Spotlight: Alexandra Hall, Penn State Greater Allegheny

Welcome to our Senior Spotlight series. In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the PSUAC had to cancel its fall and winter sport seasons. This prevented several student-athletes from receiving a proper senior day and minimized opportunities for Player of the Week awards. In its place, we will highlight seniors and non-returning underclassmen from around the conference throughout the remainder of the semester.

See more Senior Spotlight highlights on our Twitter (@psuac) and Instagram (psuac)!

How did your Penn State education prepare you for life after graduation? The education I obtained from Penn State has prepared me for any route I chose to take after graduation, whether it be the workforce or graduate school. The professors and staff at Penn State are extremely supportive of me and my education.

How do you hope to be remembered by teammates and coaches? I hope to be remembered as being passionate about the game, coachable, mentally tough, determined, and have a desire to improve my game.

What is your favorite memory from playing your sport at Penn State? My favorite memory is the first game I stepped on the floor at Penn State.

What is the best advice you ever received from a coach or teammate that you would share with other student-athletes? The best advice I ever received was from my AAU coach he told me you have to know the game to play the game. I learned every position and their job. I learned the different defenses and which defense is best against specific offenses.

What are you most looking forward to post graduation? Or in your transition to University Park (or other campus) to finish your degree? I am looking forward to working with at risk youth while pursing a master's degree.

What are some of the tools or skills that you learned through all the years of playing your sport that you plan to instill once you enter the workforce? Basketball helped me become disciplined and to utilize my time wisely.

What impact did athletics have on your experience as a college student? What is your favorite memory outside of athletics during your time as a student-athlete? The team pushed each other to do their best on the court and off the court. My favorite memory is the welcome back gathering at coach's house.

Please use this space to thank anyone you wish to acknowledge for their support during your academic and athletic career. I want to thank Dr. Krystal Tucker for her support as my advisor, professor and mentor. Coach French for making me step outside of my comfort zone on the court. Korie for being a confidant and allowing me to vent when I was frustrated. All the faculty and staff who came to the games to support us. Last but definitely not least my mother who would drive to attend my games and not allowing me to quit and always believing in me. Most importantly, not sugarcoating anything and always keeping it real.
