Owens, Zalar Shine Over Winter Break

Women's Basketball Player of the Week 7

Sophia Zalar, Penn State Fayette

Second Year

Carmichaels, Pa.

Sophia Zalar was outstanding for Penn State Fayette in their only game so far in the new year, scoring 21 points and pulling down nine rebounds in a one-point defeat at the hands of Bucks County Community College, a non-conference USCAA foe. Zalar shot 40 percent from the field and dished out two assists for Fayette, who picks up with PSUAC play later this week.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week 7

D'Montez Owens, Penn State Shenango

Fourth Year

Warren, Oh.

Fourth year guard D'Montez Owens kicked off the new year with a solid performance, dropping 22 points for Penn State Shenango. Despite the loss, Owens, led his team in scoring, including two three-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Owens also contributed three rebounds and an assist for Shenango as they prepare to move back into league play this week.
