Softball Pitcher of the Week
Mackenzie Boyd, Penn State Beaver
Fourth Year
Beaver, Pa.
Mackenzie Boyd helped Penn State Beaver seal the second of its two conference victories during the week. After first making a relief appearance against Chatham University, tossing 2.1 innings with no runs and no hits, she then got a rare start in the team’s second game of a twinbill against Penn State Hazleton. Boyd tossed a one-hitter, facing 17 batters and recording seven strikeouts in five innings during the 12-0 victory.

Softball Hitter of the Week
Keira Devor, Penn State Schuylkill
Second Year
Lewisberry, Pa.
Corner infielder Keira Devor powered the Penn State Schuylkill offense with a pair of home runs and 10 RBI in two games. She hits .667 with a double, two homers, and a 1.833 slugging percentage. Her on-base percentage was .714 and she drove in runs with every hit she recorded. She had seven RBI in the second game of the team’s sweep of Penn State Fayette.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Guy Mushow, Penn State Scranton

Carbondale, Pa.
Right-handed pitcher Guy Mushow made one comparatively brief appearance on the mound during the week but it was an effort with a big, positive result. He tossed three innings in the team’s extra-inning victory over Penn State Schuylkill. Mushow struck out six and scattered four hits in the three innings, allowing just one walk. He was the winning pitcher in a 10-inning game that Scranton won, 10-8.

Pitcher/third baseman Reza Benson enjoyed a strong week at the plate and in the field. She smacked five hits, including a triple, with three RBI and she scored three runs. At third base, she produced three putouts. She pitched one inning with the team in a tough spot, allowing no base runners and no hits. Penn State Beaver got its first two wins in the conference during the week.

Team of the Week
Penn State New Kensington Baseball
Two days and two doubleheader sweeps for Penn State New Kensington helped the team double its victory total for the season. New Kensington dropped Penn State Fayette 3-1 in seven innings and 11-10 on the first day. The next day the scores were 10-3 and 18-0. New Kensington recorded 36 hits during the four games.
