Golfer of the Week 7

Dillon Yinger, Penn State York

Second Year

Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Dillon Yinger played two consistent rounds, 72-71, at the Penn State Blue Course to earn medalist honors and help Penn State York claim the PSUAC Golf Championship. Yinger led by one shot after the first round and finished five shots ahead of the second-place finisher. Yinger’s performance also earned him United States Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship medalist honors in the concurrently held event. 

 

Team of the Week 7

Penn State York Golf

The Penn State York golf team edged Penn State DuBois by one stroke over two days of play at the Penn State Blue Course and earned the PSUAC Golf Championship. It was York’s first conference championship in golf after several runner-up finishes in recent years. Dillon Yinger led the team and was the tournament’s medalist, going 72-71. With the event’s top 10 finishers earning all-conference honors, Yinger topped that list. Teammate Tony Benkovic (75-80) also earned all-conference recognition.

 

Rookie of the Week 7

Connor Mullaney, Penn State Scranton

First Year

Dunmore, Pa.

Penn State Scranton’s Connor Mollaney finished second in the PSUAC Golf Championship. His consistent rounds of 74-74 earned him all-conference recognition. In addition, he finished fourth in the concurrent United States Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship — becoming Penn State Scranton’s first USCAA All-American in golf.

 

Volleyball Player of the Week 7

Sydney Ward, Penn State Shenango

Second Year

Hubbard, Ohio 

Middle hitter Sydney Ward dominated in Penn State Shenango's three matches during the week, tallying 28 kills on a stellar .455 hitting percentage. Ward also had nine assists and 12 digs, with only three errors, leading Shenango (10-0) to a perfect conference record.

Volleyball Specialist of the Week 7

Sophia Del Vacchio, Penn State Hazleton

Third Year

Gainesville, Va.

In a 2-1 stretch that featured a 2-0 record in conference play, Penn State Hazleton’s Sophia Del Vacchio tallied 95 assists, 21 digs and six kills. She had a season-high 50 assists in four sets during the win over Penn State Mont Alto, which was followed up by 23 assists in a three-set loss to Kings College. Del Vacchio averaged 9.5 assists per set during the week.

Women's Runner of the Week 7

Paige Geisler, Penn State Scranton 

Second Year 

Milford, Pa. 

Penn State Scranton’s Paige Geisler ran the 6k in 33:02 at the 42nd annual DeSales University Cross Country Invitational. The time marked a personal record and a team best for the season. She crushed her previous PR by a minute and a half. 

 

Men's Runner of the Week 7

Noah Haines, Penn State Scranton 

Second Year 

Madison Township, Pa. 

Penn State Scranton’s Noah Haines set a new personal and team best 8k run of 28:03 at the 42nd annual DeSales University Cross Country Invitational to earn his second PSUAC Runner of the Week honor. Haines finished 34th out of 114 runners at the event while cutting 3:05 off his previous outing.  

 

Women’s Soccer Player of the Week 7

Olivia Dress Penn State Schuylkill

Second Year

Schuylkill Haven, Pa.

Defender Olivia Dress made important contributions for Penn State Schuylkill during the week, and the season. In the past week, she produced a seven-point game by scoring Penn State Schuylkill’s first two goals and adding three assists during a 10-0 victory over Penn State Hazleton. Dress, who has been consistent on the back end all season, has started all 13 of the team’s games.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week 7

Haley Sypniewski, Penn State Schuylkill 

Third Year

Mount Carmel, Pa. 

Defender/midfielder Haley Sypniewski helped Penn State Schuylkill by scoring a goal in the team’s 10-0 shutout against Penn State Hazleton last week. She scored with her only shot on goal of the game. For the season, Sypniewski now has four goals — two of which have come in conference play.

Men’s Soccer Player of the Week 7

Zack Wilcox, Penn State Schuylkill 

Second Year

Covington, Pa.

Midfielder Zack Wilcox scored four goals and had one assist during Penn State Schuylkill's win over Penn State Hazleton. Despite losing to Bucks County Community College, he was a bright spot for Schuylkill, scoring the only goal for the team. Wilcox has 26 points this season after accumulating 11 points this past week.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week 7

Kenton Knox, Penn State New Kensington

Third Year

White Oak, Pa.

Kenton Knox recorded two clean sheets, one coming against Christendom in a 0-0 tie, and the other coming in a 5-0 win against Penn State Scranton.  He tallied six saves in two games. Knox has allowed only three goals in conference play all season with a 0.61 goals-against average.
