Penn State Brandywine Softball

Penn State Brandywine softball defeated Schuylkill twice to reach its ninth-straight PSUAC Championship series. Winning pod 1 during the opening weekend, Brandywine used a walk-off win in 10-inning thriller with Schuylkill. Baseball Hitter of the Week 8

Owen Zimmerman, Penn State Schuylkill

Penn State Schuylkill's Owen Zimmerman not only helped his team to the top seed in the East Division after leading the PSUAC in batting most of the season, but his efforts also helped Schuylkill advance in the PSUAC baseball postseason. Zimmerman went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while driving in a run as Schuylkill beat Penn State Brandywine to stay in the winner's bracket of the PSUAC Championship tournament. In three total games on the week, Zimmerman went 4-for-6 with four walks, four RBI and five runs scored.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week 8

Michael Govan, Penn State Brandywine

With his team's ace knocked off the mound after just 1/3 of an inning, Penn State Brandywine's Michael Govan stepped up to pick up his teammate. Govan entered the elimination game in relief and faced the minimum number of batters over 6.2 shutout innings. Govan used a solid defense behind him and struck out two batters while allowing just one hit and no walks to give his team the ability to erase a five-run deficit and advance in the PSUAC postseason.

Kirsten Dell was pivotal in Penn State Mont Alto's wins in pod 2 of the PSUAC Softball Championship Tournament, helping her team advance to the championship series. Dell finished the two games 6-for-8 with five RBI, three runs scored and two homers. Her second homer of the weekend capped an 8-run win over rival Penn State New Kensington and officially send her team to the final weekend..

Softball Pitcher of the Week 8

Crystal Cassario, Penn State Brandywine

Crystal Cassario shutout Penn State Schuylkill for the second time this spring, recording three strikeouts in a three-hitter to help her team pick up its first win of the weekend playoff tournament. Then, Cassario entered Brandywine's second game to pitch the final four innings of Brandywine's 10-inning win over Schuylkill. Cassario recorded eight strikeouts and scattered 10 hits over the weekend, and picked up a total of three wins on the week. Cassario also helped herself at the plate, going 6-for-11, including the 100th hit of her career in that initial 3-0 win over Schuylkill.
