Shaw, Phillips, and Hungiville Earn Player of the Week Honors

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week 

Fourth Year 

Warrior’s Mark, Pa. 

Guard/forward Shannon Shaw averaged 18.5 points for the week as her team went 2-0 with victories over Penn State Greater Allegheny and Penn State Shenango. After recovering from an injury last season, her productivity has increased. She hit 5 three-pointers against Shenango and has 21 in her past three games. Penn State DuBois travels to play Penn State Beaver on Feb. 18.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week 

Fourth Year 

Norfolk, Va. 

Forward/center Bryce Phillips became the all-time leading scorer for Penn State Greater Allegheny (1,871 points) and averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds during the week his team won both its games. He’s averaging 18.1 points and 7.9 rebounds this season. Greater Allegheny next plays Feb. 18 when it travels to Penn State New Kensington.

Rookie of the Week 

First Year 

Smethport, Pa. 

Forward Elizabeth Hungiville contributed a double-double effort, with 13 points and 15 rebounds, as Penn State DuBois upended Penn State Shenango, 71-48, and snapped Shenango’s 10-game winning streak. She averaged 14.5 points and 12.5 rebounds during the week. Penn State DuBois next plays Feb. 18 at Penn State Beaver.

Team of the Week 

Penn State DuBois Women’s Basketball 

The Penn State DuBois women’s basketball team has won nine of its last 10 games, and this week that included a 71-48 victory against PSUAC West-leading Penn State Shenango. Dubois is 12-9 overall and 10-5 in conference play. The team returns to action Feb. 18 against Penn State Beaver.
