Team of the Week 9

Penn State Mont Alto Men’s Basketball

Penn State Mont Alto added two wins last week, remaining undefeated in conference play. It took care of business against Penn State Scranton, winning 87-68. In a more impressive win, Mont Alto came back from a 16-point deficit at half to beat Penn State York. Bryson Fleming hit a buzzer-beater shot from beyond half-court to win the game for the Nittany Lions 74-72.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week 9

Brianna Kennedy, Penn State Hazleton

Second Year

Drums, Pa.

Brianna Kennedy’s efficient scoring highlighted a 2-0 week for Penn State Hazleton. The second-year forward averaged 23.5 points, 10 rebounds and four assists on 46.5% from the field. Kennedy scored 14 points in Hazleton’s 47-45 victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley and added a game-high 33 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in her squad’s 79-46 route of Penn State Scranton. Hazleton, which snapped a four-game losing streak, returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when it travels to face Penn State Schuylkill.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week 9

Ta'Rasi Means, Penn State New Kensington

Third Year

Plum, Pa.

Ta’Rasi Means reached a career milestone, hitting the 1,000-point mark in a win over Penn State Beaver. The third-year guard averaged 23.5 points, 3 rebounds and 2.5 assists during New Kensington’s 86-79 win over Penn State Beaver and an 89-88 win over Penn State Shenango. Looking ahead, Penn State New Kensington will face Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday for its Senior Night.

Aaron Feaster scored 14 points and added 5 rebounds and 2 assists for Penn State New Kensington during the week. Feaster helped lead his team to two wins this week. New Kensington beat Penn State Beaver 86-79 and Penn State Shenango 89-88.
