Team of the Week 12

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Men’s Basketball

Head Coach LeShawn Hammett became the winningest coach in Penn State Wilkes-Barre men’s basketball history on Sunday with the team’s 90-63 victory over Central Penn. In that game,  guard/forward Jeremiah Miller set a school record with 10 steals and earned the first triple-double of his career. Penn State Wilkes-Barre, now tied for first in the PSUAC after a conference win over Penn State New Kensington on Saturday, is riding a seven-game win streak and remains undefeated on the road with a 4-0 record. The team will return to action, facing Penn State Greater Allegheny, on Dec. 13.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week 5

Zay Fowlks, Penn State Scranton

First Year

Rochester, New York

Zay Fowlks had a strong showing this week as Penn State went 3-0. He scored 33 points and added 20 rebounds when when Penn State Scranton beat Penn State New Kensington. He followed up that performance with 35 points against Penn State Greater Allegheny. Fowlks is leading his team to a great start on the year with a 4-0 record. He leads the PSUAC, averaging 25 points per game.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week 5

Kennedy Armistead, Penn State Lehigh Valley

First Year

North Augusta, South Carolina

Guard Kennedy Armistead has made an immediate impact, proving herself on the court so far this season. Armistead has started four of the five games for Penn State Lehigh Valley and is averaging 16 points per game with 80 points in the team’s five games. Armistead averaged 20.5 points this week as her team went 2-1 in PSUAC play, while also dishing out 4.5 assists per contest and contributing on the defensive end with 3.5 steals per game. The team returns to action Dec. 13 at Penn State DuBois.

Rookie of the Week 15

Mario Olivieri, Penn State Scranton 

First Year 

Bronx, New York

Forward Mario Olivieri has been averaging 20 points in the past three conference wins, including this past week at home. Over the week, Olivieri accumulated 63 points and 18 boards, helping his team stay undefeated in the PSUAC. Penn State Scranton will head to Penn State Beaver on Dec. 13.
