Samantha Varela got off to a hot start last week in Clermont, Fl. The senior went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a solo shot in Hazleton's 8-0 win over Eastern University and followed that effort up with a 2-for-3 showing in a 5-1 win over Dominican University where she drove in a pair of runs with an RBI double and her third home run of the day. In seven total games during the spring break trip, Varela would total four home runs, nine RBI and a pair of doubles. All six of her hits went for extra bases, giving her a .909 slugging percentage for the week.
