MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team saw its 14-match winning streak against PSUAC foes come to an end on Saturday at the hands of Penn State Beaver as Beaver rallied to post a 4-2 road victory.
Brandywine owned the first half, collecting 12 of the game's 14 shots; however, Beaver took over during the final 45 minutes, outscoring the Lions 3-0.
Marcus Smith scored the first of his three goals during the afternoon at the 14:17 mark of the opening stanza, but Brandywine quickly responded when reigning PSUAC Player of the Year Bill Walleekendeh (Chester, Pa./Chester) scored just over three minutes later. Walleekendeh collected a loose ball following a misplay by Beaver netminder Rashitha Perera and found the back of the net for the first time this fall.
Dan Tyler (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) put Brandywine in front during the 25th minute. Esteban Munoz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley Park) sent a long lob pass and Tyler found himself behind the Beaver defense as he chipped the ball into the goal.
Smith's second goal knotted the game at 2-2 during the 55th minute and he completed his hat trick with just under four minutes to play.
Brandywine held a slim, 10-9 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Pat O'Neill (Morton, Pa./Ridley) stopped five shots, while Perera made eight saves.
Brandywine is idle until Saturday when it hosts Penn State Greater Allegheny at 4:00 pm.
