Huskies Make Pennsylvania Trip

The Word of Life Bible Institute Huskies went to Northern Pennsylvania to play against Clark's Summit University and Penn State Scranton. On Monday, the Huskies played a doubleheader against the Clark's Summit Defenders.

Game 1 featured a quick start by the Defenders, scoring 13 runs in the first inning of play. The Defenders also tacked on 4 more runs and got 12 hits throughout game 1. The Huskies were able to score in the 4th inning with an RBI Fielder's Choice by Madeline Rodenberger, this would be the team's first run of the season. The Defenders would go on to take a 17-1 victory in game 1.

In game 2, it was more of the same. The Huskies were able to make some noise and start the game off with a bases-loaded walk by MJ Buck to drive in a run and give the Huskies the lead for the first time this season. It did not take long for the Defenders to respond as they scored 4 in the first inning, and 6 in the second inning to take a 10-1 lead. Olivia Parker was able to bat in another run in the 4th inning due to an error by the Defenders. The Defenders would go on to win 17-2 to sweep the doubleheader.

On Tuesday, the Huskies made the 15-minute trip to Dunmore, Pennsylvania to take on Penn State University at Scranton. It was all Nittany Lions in Game 1 with a 5-hit shutout thrown by the Penn State pitching staff. The Nittany Lions took a commanding lead early and never looked back as they took game 1 by the score of 16-0.

The Huskies got off to a good start in game 2. Hannah Burk drove in Olivia Parker with an RBI single to put the Huskies ahead 1-0. But the Nittany Lions put 10 on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the first inning to quickly take back the control of the game. The Huskies managed another run with Hannah Burk reaching on an error that allowed Cassie Cragg to score in the 4th inning. The Nittany Lions would end the game with a 24-2 victory and a doubleheader sweep over the Huskies.

The Huskies' next game is on the road to nearby Queensbury as they take on SUNY Adirondack for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 11th starting at 3 pm. The games will take place at the Adirondack Sports Complex.
