Cabrini Tops Brandywine 3-1

RADNOR, Pennsylvania -- Cabrini scored twice in a five-minute span during the second half and topped Penn State Brandywine 3-1 on Tuesday night in the men's soccer season opener for both teams.

Cabrini scored the lone goal of the first half during the eighth minute as Bobby Kane found the back of the net off a feed from Ben Roda.

Kane added an assist on John Underwood's 61st-minute goal that pushed the Cavaliers' edge to 2-0; However, Nick Abhulimen (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) quickly got one goal back for Brandywine as he corralled the ball in the box following a corner kick and beat Cabrini net minder CJ Serratore.

Cabrini had an answer for Brandywine, tallying its third goal of the contest just minutes later to build a two-goal cushion once again.

Both teams registered eight shots on goal. Brandywine goalkeeper Pat O'Neill (Morton, Pa./Ridley) stopped five shots, while Serratore made seven saves.

The Lions look to bounce back next Wednesday when they visit Washington Adventist for a 6:00 pm match.
