Brandywine Lady Lions knocked out of USCAA tournament 68-63 in the first round against Berkeley College.

In first round Women's Division II basketball action the fifth-seeded Berkeley College-New York Lady Knights defeated the Penn State Brandywine Lady Lions by the score of 68-63. Despite being outscored 38-28 in the second half, Berkeley College-New York held off the late rally and will advance to the second round of the USCAA Women's Division II bracket.

The fourth-seeded Lady Lions were led by Lauren Munro (15 points), Brandy Flowers (15 points), and Myeisha Matos (17 points), but as a team Brandywine couldn't overcome a tough shooting performance from beyond the arc. Brandywine connected on only 5-21 shots from three-point range (23.8%). The Lady Knights will move on to face the winner of the Central Maine Community College and Penn State Fayette game on Friday at 7:00 PM in the Main Arena. Penn State Brandywine will take on the loser of that contest in the consolation bracket at 2:00 PM in Maltho on Friday.

The top-seeded Central Maine Community College Mustangs defeated Penn Brandywine in Women's Division II consolation bracket action by a score of 79-65. The Lady Lions started the game on a 21-3 run before the Mustangs punched back with an impressive 25-0 run to take a lead late in the first half that they wouldn't relinquish.

The Lady Lions received 17 points from Emily Lawry-Thompson, 16 from Lauren Munro, and 10 from Brandy Flowers to lead their offensive attack. Flowers also added 10 rebounds for Penn State Brandywine. As a team, the Lady Lions had just 13 assists in the game and shot 35% from the field.
