SHENANGO VOLLEYBALL DROPS ITS FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON TO CARLOW

 

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Penn State Shenago Lady Lions (0-1) returned to the court last night for the first time in just under two years to take on The Carlow Celtics (3-0) in Pittsburgh, Pa. The visiting Lady Lions dropped 3 straight sets to the Celtics (25-15, 25-21, and 25-22) in a valiant effort. 

 

The Lady Lions were extremely competitive in each set, including a magnificent comeback in the third set which saw The Lady Lions facing a 14-4 deficit. They would eventually take a 21-18 lead in this set before surrendering the lead to a late charge from Carlow. 

 

The Lions were strong on the serve for the entirety of the match, led by Jr. Olivia Vogel who slammed home 4 serving aces during an 11 point run in the third. Vogel also led the team in TA (21) and Kills (5.) Sr. Donique Marcella and Sr. Katie Richards made their presence know with 12 & 6 kills a piece.

 

The Lady Lions' (0-1) next contest will take place on September 11th in their first home game of the season as they welcome the visiting Kent State Tuscarawas to Pride Rock/Buhl Court in Sharon, Pa at 12:00 pm.
