PETERSBURG, Va.—The #7-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team was defeated 87-66 by #8 Penn State University Mont Alto in a consolation game at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament on Monday, Mar. 11.

A sluggish start on defense left the Seawolves trailing by 20 at the break. Despite the differential, sophomore forward Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine) netted 11 of his 13 points in the first half, and first-year forward Adam Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) totaled 4 blocks in 15 minutes of action.

Everyone contributed in the second half, as the SMCC bench registered 37 of the team's 39 total points. Sophomore guard Andrew St. Hilaire (North Yarmouth, Maine) scored a season-high 10 points on 4-10 shooting.

Four finished in double figures for Mont Alto led by Caleb Eckert's 17 points—adding seven rebounds and three assists.

The Seawolves conclude their season at 21-9 overall.
