Shenango Sweeps New Kensington

The night started off with the Shenango Women's Basketball team clinching a commanding victory over Penn State New Kensington, 64-34. A big second half propelled the team to victory as Shenango outscored the visitors 26 to 6. The Lady Lions were led by Hailee Aguinaga, who dropped 13 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Shar'Da Williamson scored 11 points and newcomer Cassie Dancak poured in nine points off the bench.

Behind the roar of the student section, the Shenango Men's Basketball team won a thriller on a free throw by D'Montez Owens with 3.1 seconds remaining. New Kensington jumped out to an early lead in the first half of the contest, but Shenango was not to be out done as they battled back, cutting the deficit to four points going into the half. Both teams came out scrappy in the second frame, battling back and forth until the final seconds. On the final Shenango possesion with the game tied, Owens was fouled on a three-point attempt, forcing free throws that ultimately decided the game. Jeremiah Green led Shenango with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Quintin Stephens secured his own double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Shenango will be back on the court Saturday, January 20th when they travel to Penn State Fayette.
