Conference Play Proves to be Tough for the Lions
The Lions drop 1-3 in the conference after a tough loss to Penn State York
York, PA - The Lions continued conference play tonight traveling to take on Penn State York. The Lions have had a rough start to conference play only defeating one team so far. York proved to be another tough competition which extended their losing streak to 2.
The Lions started off the game on a high note scoring the first basket of the game after a made free throw shot. York responded quickly with a dunk, but Beaver was no far behind sinking in two more free throws. The first half of the game remained very close. Neither team was able to hold a lead larger than 3 until about seven and a half minutes remained when York gained a 6 point lead. York would remain in the lead to close out the first half of up 28-20
Beaver started off the second half scoring the first basket once again. The Lions then went on to score another basket, but this time York responded with a shot of their own. With another made basket, the Lions were only down by four points. This did not last long because before the Lions knew it, York extended their lead to 10 points with just under 12 minutes remaining in the half. The Lions could not come back from this lead, and the game ended in a 65-50 loss for the Lions.
Third year Matt Brown (Upland, CA) was the top scorer in tonight's game finishing with 12 points. Brown also had 9 rebounds and 1 assist. Second year Josh McCloud (Houston, TX) finished with 11 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal. First year Alex Green (Chicago, IL) finished with a double-double having 11 points and 11 rebounds.
