Beaver Ends First Half of Season With a Win
The Lions finish out the first half of the season with a win after defeating Penn State Scranton
Monaca, PA - Conference play has been tough for Beaver as they sit at 2-4 after losing to Penn State Wilkes-Barre last night. Beaver went into this game looking for a win, and that's exactly what they got. To start the first half the Lions went on a 5-0 run for an early lead. At the ten minute mark in the first half, Beaver had extended their lead to 10 points as the score sat 10-20. Beaver was able to hangout to their lead to finish out the first half 40-32. The second half was one to watch with both teams putting up great baskets. Beaver was able to hang onto their lead for the remainder of the game regardless of how much Scranton tried to come back. Both teams dropped 34 points in the second half and Beaver pulled out a 74-66 win to end conference play for the first half of the season.
Third year Matt Brown (Upland, CA) finished with adouble-double today having 19 points and 17 rebounds. Brown also had 3 assists. First year Alex Green (Chicago, IL) was close behind finishing with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 steals. First year Nick Gjergi (Yorktown, NY) finished with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. Fourth year Chris Green (Washington, D.C.) finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.
The Lions will be back at home to begin their annual Holiday Classic Tournament. The Lions take on Bryant and Stratton Buffalo on Day 1 of the Tournament. Tipoff begins at 7pm on Friday, December 15th. Be sure to come out and show your support or catch the game live on the Rise and Roar Network!
