Shenango Splits with DuBois on Senior Night

The Buhl Club gymnasium was at capacity on Friday night as the men's and women's basketball teams faced off with Penn State DuBois in the season finale.

The Lady Lions found themselves in a heavyweight battle as DuBois was fighting for their playoff lives. Regulation ended tied at 65, forcing overtime. Shenango prevailed, 78-72 after an electric three-point play from Shar'Da Williamson in the final minute, giving them a jolt heading into the postseason. Shenango was led by Williamson who dropped 21 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Hailee Aguinaga had a double-double of her own with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Aneziah Fryer added 10 points off the bench.

Prior to the men's game, seniors Quintin Stephens and Jeremiah Green were honored for their contributions to Shenango Men's Basketball program over the past two seasons. DuBois, however, spoiled the Senior Night festivities, taking the game 92-79. The Shenango Lions could not get into a rhythm in the game, keeping the first half close but falling out of reach in the second half. The men were led by Quintin Stephens with 19 points and Israel Santiago with 18 points, respectively.

The Lady Lions will be back on the court Monday night as they take on Penn State Mont Alto in the first round of the PSUAC Playoffs at the Buhl Club. Tip-off is at 6:00 PM.
