Shenango Basketball Sweeps Weekend Back-to-Back

The Penn State Shenango Men's and Women's Basketball teams got off to a hot start in conference play over the weekend by sweeping their back-to-back with Penn State Scranton and Penn State Wilkes-Barre. On Friday night, the women's team kicked things off with a decisive 62-40 win over Scranton. The Lady Lions were led by Shar'Da Williamson who scored 15 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. Hailee Aguinaga secured a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The game also saw Toni Donaldson and Amber Sefton contribute off the bench with nine points a piece. The Shenango men followed that up with a 93-74 over Scranton's men's side. The Lions were led by Devin Alston, who came off the bench and dropped 24 points and secured 6 rebounds. D'Montez Owens contributed 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Saturday afternoon was equally as exciting, as the Lady Lions grinded to a 77-68 win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Toni Donaldson led the team in scoring with 19 points off the bench and Alli Lewis dropped 18 points of her own. The second game saw the men upset defending USCAA Division II National Champion-Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 80-73. D'Montez Owens led the Lions with 22 points and Devin Alston came through with another 15 off the bench. Jeremiah Green landed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Shenango Lions have a bit of a break as they go home for Thanksgiving. They take the floor again on November 29th against rival Penn State Beaver at the Buhl Club.
