Stevenson Hits 1,000 Points as PSU Schuylkill Falls to Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Despite a strong start and a historic milestone for Tajae Stevenson, Penn State Schuylkill (0-2) fell to Mansfield University (2-1) in a nonconference matchup, 91-45, at Marion Decker Gymnasium on Monday night.

Stevenson's standout moment came early in the first quarter when she reached the 1,000-point milestone, becoming one of the few in program history to achieve this feat. Her leadership helped keep the Lions competitive through much of the first half.

Penn State Schuylkill hung tough in the opening quarter, narrowing Mansfield's lead to just two points midway through, thanks to a balanced attack and timely defensive stops. The Lions trailed 20-14 after the first quarter but opened the second with an offensive surge, cutting the deficit to 26-25.

However, Mansfield responded with a commanding 17-2 run to close the half, powered by their leading scorer Katie Sheeler, who had 16 points by halftime. The Lions trailed 43-27 going into the break.

The second half saw Mansfield's offense take control. While Stevenson and her teammates fought to chip away at the lead, the Mountaineers' depth proved too much. Mansfield limited Schuylkill to just six points in the third quarter, extending their advantage to 69-33.

Stevenson finished with a team-high 13 points for Schuylkill, while senior guard Alli Crockett contributed 11 points.

Penn State Schuylkill will look to bounce back as they travel to University of Valley Forge on Monday, November 18th.
