Lady Lions Dominate in PSUAC Showdown Against PSU Fayette

The Lady Lions started strong, setting the tone with a dominant first-quarter performance to lead 22-13. Building on that momentum, they extended their advantage in the second quarter behind a balanced offensive attack and relentless defensive pressure, taking a commanding 41-27 lead at halftime.

Key to the win was the stellar play of Tajae Stevenson, who posted a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Serena Jones also shined, adding 18 points and 5 rebounds, while Nadia King contributed 10 points and 6 assists to orchestrate the offense.

PSU Fayette attempted a late comeback in the fourth quarter, fueled by Sophia Zalar's game-high 21 points and 7 rebounds, but the Lady Lions' defense held firm, limiting second-chance opportunities and converting free throws to secure the victory.

Penn State Schuylkill's rebounding edge (38-33) and efficiency at the charity stripe (80% FT shooting) proved pivotal. Defensively, they forced 18 turnovers, including crucial steals by Allison Crockett and Stevenson in key moments.

Key Runs:

  • First Quarter: A 13-2 run sparked by jumpers from Jones and Stevenson established the early lead.
  • Third Quarter: A quick 8-2 burst out of halftime, capped by Stevenson's steal and layup, pushed the lead to 20.
