Men's Basketball Tops Penn State Beaver

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. - Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball won Friday's PSUAC matchup to Penn State Beaver by a score of 100-78.

Neither team was able to gain a significant advantage during the first thirteen minutes of the contest as it was a fast past back and forth affair highlighted by a two-handed slam by Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Catonsville High School). However, with 7:01 left in the first half, Dixon's made basket propelled Schuylkill to a 32-28 lead, sparking a 12-2 run that prompted a Beaver timeout at the 4:35 mark. Schuylkill entered the second half with a ten-point advantage.

Following an exchange of baskets at the start of the half, Schuylkill orchestrated an 18-8 run midway through the second half, expanding their lead to 20 points with 7:55 remaining in the contest. Schuylkill successfully maintained this substantial lead for the remainder of the game.

Five different Schuylkill players scored in double figures as Dixon led the way with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Schuylkill received valuable contributions from their bench, scoring 45 of Schuylkill's 100 points. Makhi Jones (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) and Lamine Diop (Cincinnati, OH / Finneytown High School) led the way for the second unit, scoring 15 and 12 respectively. Andrew Sepp (Bogota, NJ / Saint Mary High School) added 11 points while Hadir Boswell (Philadelphia, PA / West Philadelphia Catholic High School) finished with 10 points in the victory. Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) dished out a game-high 9 assists.

Schuylkill (6-11 overall, 3-4 PSUAC) will return to action on Saturday, January 13th against Penn State Fayette.
