Cresswell Notches 250 Career Wins Following Sweep Against Bucks County

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Darle Cresswell notched 250 career wins during Penn State Schuylkill's sweep against Bucks County Community College.

Game One: Penn State Schuylkill 10, Bucks County Community College 0 (5 innings)

As Jade Weiss (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) stole second base on the second play of the contest, Emma Crisswell (Williamstown, PA / Williams Valley High School) singled to center field, driving in an early Schuylkill run. Schuylkill would quickly load the bases up plays later, gaining an additional run as Kaely Walshaw (Dornsife, PA / Line Mountain High School) scored on a passed ball. Schuylkill continued to tack on the points as Mackenzie Carl (Tower City, PA / Williams Valley High School) singled to left field to drive in two additional Schuylkill runs, giving them four for the inning.

Weiss singled and stole second base once again to begin the second inning for Schuylkill. With Weiss positioned at third base, Walshaw would hit a home run and extend Schuylkill's lead to 6-0. Schuylkill continued to roll as Alyssa Youst (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Blue Mountain High School) and Morgan Kleckner (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) hit consecutive singles. Schuylkill would earn their third run of the inning as Carl doubled, driving in a run for Kleckner. Another home run hit for Walshaw at the bottom of the third inning gave Schuylkill their final three runs of the contest.

Perfect game for Crisswell on the mound, going the distance and striking out all fifteen pitchers faced. Walshaw's two home runs gave her five RBIs. Carl finished two for three at bat with a double and three RBIs. Also hitting a double was Weiss who finished a perfect 2-2 at bat.

Game Two: Penn State Schuylkill 13, Bucks County Community College 2 (5 innings)

A single at the top of the first inning gave Bucks County the first run of the contest. Bucks County extended their lead to 2-0 at the top of the next frame after a single to center field.

Following two outs at the bottom of the second, Cealinn McGroarty (New Boston, PA / Mahanoy Area High School) batted in Schuylkill's first run of the contest. A double by Weiss on the next play drove in two additional runs for Schuylkill, giving them the lead.

Following three consecutive walks for Schuylkill at the bottom of the third, a fielder's choice gave Schuylkill their fourth run of the contest. An error and a passed ball later in the inning gave Schuylkill four total runs for the frame.

To begin the bottom of the fourth inning, Youst would double to left field and advance to third base on a passed ball, putting Schuylkill in position to add on to their commanding lead. Kleckner then grounded out to enable Youst to run to home base, giving them their first score of the inning. Tayla Jones (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) would add on to their lead as she doubled to next field on the next play, driving in an additional run, Jones would give Schuylkill their third run of the inning following a passed ball.

With Schuylkill looking to add additional points on the board, Alivia Payne (Dover, PA / Northeastern High School) and Keira Devor singled in additional runs for Schuylkill. Payne would steal third base plays later, ultimately giving Schuylkill their sixth run of the inning as Megan Marks (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township High School) walked.

Weiss finished with a double and four RBIs. Also hitting doubles for Schuylkill were Youst and Jones. A total of eight different players batted in runs for Schuylkill.

Schuylkill (5-3 overall, 0-0 PSUAC) will return to action this Saturday as they travel to Cairn University for a doubleheader matchup. The first pitch of the day will be thrown at 12:00 p.m., followed by a 2:00 p.m. meeting.
