Beaver Wins First Game Back Against Villa Maria
Monaca, PA - Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball was back in action after winter break where they took on Villa Maria at home.
Beaver was eager to play in their first game back after winter break today. They started off the first quarter slow, being outscored by Villa Maria 14-10. Going into the second quarter, Beaver picked up the pace and gained a big lead against Villa Maria scoring 28 points compared to the 12 points they allowed Villa Maria to score. The first half of the game ended with Beaver being up by 12 points.
Beaver continued to hold onto their lead in the second half of the game. In the third quarter, Beaver outscored Villa Maria 22-14. The fourth quarter went much like the game with Beaver holding onto their lead and scoring 18 points allowing Villa Maria to score 17. Beaver finished the game with a big win against Villa Maria with the final score sitting 78-57.
Numerous players put up big numbers in tonight's win. Sophomore Kiera Baker (Houston, TX) scored 19 points and had 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 8 rebounds. Junior Kyra Seggewiss (Calgary Alberta, Canada) not only scored 15 points, but led Beaver in steals tonight with 7. Seggewiss also had 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Freshman Daniela Guzman (Plainview, TX) finished the game with 14 points, 2 steals, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. Junior Aaliyah Booker (Atlanta, GA) played a big game tonight going 3-4 from the three point line. Booker finished the game with 13 points.
