Another Tough Loss Against Penn State Mont Alto
Monaca, PA- Today the Men's basketball team had a big conference game on their home court taking on Penn State Mont Alto. Coming off a tough conference loss Beaver wanted to pick up a PSUAC conference win but came up short losing to Penn State Mont Alto with a final score of 74-61.
The whole first half consisted of back and forth play between Beaver and Mont Alto. To start the games intensity was First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL) with a nice lay up. Following that up was Fourth year, Chris Green (Washington, DC) with a made 3-pt jump shot. Penn State Mont Alto went a scoring run before made free throws brought Beaver back into the game. As the first quarter continued at the 10 minute mark Penn State Mont Alto was winning 26-16. As the game continued Fourth year, Isiah Wise (Virginia Beach, VA) had a nice steal allowing Second year, Josh McCloud (Houston, TX) do drive to the basket for 2 points. A clutch 3 pointer by First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL) brought Beaver back within 2 pointers of Mont Alto. Back and forth play continued for the rest of the quarter finishing it up with a score of 36-29 going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime Penn State Mont Alto striked first by adding some points to their score. Starting the scoring back up was Second year, Xavier Ryan (Philadelphia, PA) with a with a lay up. Penn State Mont Alto went on another scoring streak which lead to a Beaver timeout. Returning from the timeout Fourth year, Ben Pleasant (Austin, TX) had two free throws and made them both. The game continued with scoring from both sides and with 10 minutes remaining Second year, Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA) made a clutch 3 point jump shot to keep Beaver in the game. Penn State Mont Alto started gaining more and more momentum which led to a lose for Penn State Beaver with final score of 74-61.
Leading the team in points and player of the game was First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL) he had 17 points, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 5 rebounds. Also adding to the stats sheet was Second year, Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA) with 10 points, 1 steal, and 6 rebounds. Second year, Josh McCloud (Houston, TX) also contributed having 9 points, 1 steal, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. As well as Fourth year, Isiah Wise (Virginia Beach, VA) having 9 points, and 1 steal.
