Penn State Wilkes-Barre Falls in Season Finale against Penn State Fayette

(Lehman, PA) – Penn State Wilkes-Barre fell in their final game of the regular season to Penn State Fayette, 65-56. Deanne Thomas scored 14 points and Jannae Hall-Gaddy added 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks to lead Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

In the first quarter, both teams played evenly, evening the score a total of 4 times in the quarter, but would be down by 3 at the end of the quarter. In the second quarter Wilkes-Barre would pull the game within 1 point on a made layup by Sierra Eskridge and tie the game at 22-22 on a made three by Thomas. Fayette then answered with jump shots by Courtney Haines and Taylor Smith to take the lead by four. After an Eskridge and Amari Boyd made lay-up, Wilkes-Barre would regain the lead at the 4:43 but Wilkes-Barre would lose the lead and not get it back for the rest of the half following a jumper by Fayette's Kaitlyn Miller.

After coming out of the locker room down 3, Wilkes-Barre was only able to have short answers to Fayette's runs, only seeing the score get as close as 3 for short periods of time. The third quarter would play out the same as the third quarter. Wilkes-Barre would see the lead get down again to 3 on a Simone London layup at the 6:44 mark. The 6:44 mark would be the closet Wilkes-Barre would see of the lead as Fayette would go on a run to close out the game.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre finishes out the regular season 14-8 and 7-7 in conference play. The Women will look to the tournament announcement Monday night on the location and time of their playoff game.
