Lady Lions Fall to Cleary in 1st Round of USCAA Tournament

Akron, OH -- Beaver falls to Cleary in 1st Round of USCAA Tournament.
In their first game of the USCAA Softball National Tournament, Beaver faced off against #9 Cleary University.
In the top of the first inning, Cleary opened up the scoring on a 2 run home run and expanded their lead to 5-0 by the middle of the second. After a scoreless third inning, Cleary tacked on two more runs in the fourth and an additional three in the fifth.
Beaver was held hitless in the contest while only two players, Rachael Charlier (Burgettstown, PA / Burgettstown) and Emily Dietrich (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley), were able to draw walks to give the Lady Lions base runners, but were unable to score once on base.
On the mound, taking the loss was Vanessa Jackson (Snohomish, WA / Snohomish) who threw 4.1 innings. She was relieved by Sarah Foose (New Bloomfield, PA / West Perry) for the final two outs of the game.
Beaver now falls into the loser's bracket and will face the loser of #4UMPI and #5 St. Joe's Vermont at 6:00 p.m. tonight.
