First Pair of Home Runs

Penn State DuBois softball opened the 2019 season on Saturday as they travelled to PSU New Kensington for a double header.

GAME ONE:

HittingMakenzie Lukehart (Glendale) and Laura Fatula (DuBois) had 3 hits each from the plate, and both scored twice to help start the Lady Lions off right.  One of Lukehart's hits would turn into a double, and Fatula would leg out a triple for her 2 RBI day.  Cayleigh Huffman (Cabot, AR) would find her comfort at the plate as she hit her first collegiate home run that would also bring in Kaleigh MacTavish (West Branch) who was on third after hitting a triple of her own.

PitchingLizzy Scott (West Branch) pitched a complete game for DuBois giving up only 2 runs, and striking out 9.

 

GAME TWO:

Hitting – Fatula found herself with another 3 hit game in the second game of the day against New Ken.  Scott, MacTavish, Skylar Ceprich (West Branch), and Samantha Satterlee (Punxsutawney) would all come away with 2 hits on the day including a double from MacTavish, a triple from Ceprish, and a home run from Satterlee.

The Lady Lions would come away with 14 hits, and only stranding 4 on base.

PitchingBrooke Harvey (Northwest) got the start for DuBois, and went a strong 5 innings.  Harvey gave up only 5 hits, and 2 runs in 5 innings of work, and would also retire 5 batters.  Scott came in for 2 innings of relief as she gave up only 3 hits and 0 runs to finish off the day with an 11-2 victory.
