Lions fall short against Wilkes-Barre

MONACA, Pa.––The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team picked up a conference loss against Penn State Wilkes-Barre Saturday afternoon, 60-50.
Junior guard Keon Butler (Annapolis/Star Severn School) led the team in scoring with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Sophomore forward/center Jeremy Redwine (Merced) finished with his third double-double with 15 points, 11 assists and one steal, followed by senior guard John Foster (Austin/Del Valle) finished with 11 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block.
1st half: Wilkes-Barre pulled ahead by 5 points at 16:35, but Foster cut the deficit to 3 points after hitting a layup at 14:47 (11-8) and again at 11:15 (13-10). With the score at 17-12, with Beaver down by 5, Wilkes-Barre forged an 11-point run to raise the deficit to 16 points (28-12). Butler then hit a layup with only 16 seconds left in the first for Beaver to trail by 12 at halftime (30-18).
2nd half: At 16:23, Butler and Foster combined for back-to-back jumpers from behind the arc to but Beaver back in striking distance (36-28), but Wilkes-Barre began pulling ahead again and built the lead back to double-digits against Beaver. At 1:37, Redwine drilled a late 3-pointer to make it a 10-point again once again, but the Lions couldn't make a comeback in time and fell by a final score of 60-50.
The Lions are now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the PSUAC standings. Beaver will travel to face-off against Saint Vincent College on Monday, Nov. 25. Game time is TBA.
