Brandywine Stretches Winning Streak To Eight Games

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team ran its winning streak to eight-straight matches following a 5-1 road victory at Pratt Institute on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions built a 3-0 lead by halftime after outshooting the Cannoneers 15-1 during the opening half. Alex Lopez (Toughkenamon, Pa./Kennett) got the scoring started in the fourth minute, finding the back of the net off a pass from Ben Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West). Just over six minutes later, Sarafinas netted his first goal of the season to double the Lions' lead.

Ronaldo Calle (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) made the score 3-0 at the 28:02 mark. Axel Ayllon-Ortiz (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) provided his team-leading seventh assist on the goal.

Brandywine allowed a goal for the first time during its win streak as Pratt pulled within two early in the second half, but Sarafinas tacked on his second tally of the game under five minutes later to push the margin back to three. Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) delivered his second assist of the game on Gavin Birch's (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) goal that capped the scoring in the 82nd minute.

Juan Guerrero (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) did not face a shot during the first half as he earned his seventh win of the year in goal. Zachary Ritz (Woodlyn, Pa./Ridley) made one stop during the final 45 minutes for Brandywine, which held a 31-3 edge in shots.

Brandywine (11-4-1, 6-0 PSUAC) visits Penn State Hazleton Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
