Brandywine Blanks Bryant & Stratton 1-0

MEDIA, Pa. -- Playing for the second time in less than 24 hours, the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team bested Bryant & Stratton-Albany 1-0 on its home field Saturday afternoon.

After playing 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Gwynedd Mercy Friday night, the Lions outplayed the Bobcats. Brandywine outshot Bryant & Stratton, a Division I member of the USCAA, 17-5 and put nine of its shot attempts on target.

Axel Ayllon-Ortiz (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) delivered all of the offense on a penalty kick for the second-straight day. A foul in the box produced the penalty kick opportunity, putting Brandywine up 1-0 in the 22nd minute.

Zachary Ritz (Woodlyn, Pa./Ridley), making his first appearance in net, turned aside all four shots he faced to earn the shutout. He made three first-half stops and then blocked the only shot he faced in the second half during the 74th minute.

Seven of Brandywine's shots on net came during the final 45 minutes, but Bobcat goalkeeper Nate Getman stopped each shot to keep B&S in the game.

Brandywine (2-1-1) begins a three-game road trip Wednesday at Penn State Harrisburg at 4:00 pm.
