Women’s Volleyball Brings Home a Win

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington women's volleyball traveled to Westmoreland County Community College this afternoon and brought home the win. The women won all sets against WCCC.

During the first set, New Kensington pulled ahead 25-11. The women did the same in the second set, only allowing WCCC to gain one more point than before, 25-12. The last set was off to a slow start for New Kensington. WCCC put up the first few points, and the Lions trailed behind for the first time in all three sets. It would be the last though. New Kensington started playing hard and pushing their score up until it ended being 25-15.

Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) helped the Lions push ahead in the last game with several service aces. Flick totaled up seven throughout the sets. Along with service aces, Flick led with 14 kills. Teammate Kierra Rose (Uniontown, Pa./ Uniontown) racked up seven kills and led in assists, 14.

Bethany Baney (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area) and Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) each had four digs a piece.

New Kensington will take a road trip to Penn State Mont Alto on Wed., September 11. The first serve will be at 7:30 p.m.
