Men’s Basketball Rout Crusaders in Road Win

FRONT ROYAL, Va. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team recovered from an early deficit to lead from start-to-finish in a dominant victory over the Christendom Crusaders on Saturday. The Nittany Lions won by a 98-32 score to improve to 2-2 overall and will open PSUAC play on Tuesday against Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Inside the Box Score

  • Freshman guard Cameron Williams (Inwood, W.Va. / Musselman) made his first collegiate start and responded with a game-high 18 points. He shot 7-of-9 from the field and added six steals.
  • Four of the five starters finished in double figures with John Teague (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) chipping in 10, JR Powe (Frederick, Md. / Thomas Johnson) adding 17 and Darrius Bush (Martinsburg, W.Va. / Spring Mills) poured in 12 with five boards and five assists.
  • The Nittany Lions held Christendom to just 23.9% from the field while they connected on 56% of their shots.
  • PSUMA also knocked down 3-of-9 shots from downtown.

How it Happened

  • The Crusaders connected on an early 3-pointer, but went ice cold from the field thanks to outstanding Mont Alto defense. Christendom shot just 16.7 percent from the field. Mont Alto was able to establish a lead by out running the opponent scoring several transition buckets. PSUMA took a 43-11 lead into halftime.
  • The Nittany Lions outrebounded the home team by a 46-27 margin and scored 37 points off  of turnovers.
  • Mont Alto established a 65-point lead it's largest since the 2011 season with 43-seconds remaining in the game.

Mont Alto returns to action on Tuesday, November 19 against PSU Allegheny at  8 p.m.
