Women’s Volleyball Splits Day One at PSUAC Crossover

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington's women's volleyball team traveled to main campus for the PSUAC crossover weekend. During day one, New Kensington went 1-1.

New Kensington played Penn State Wilkes Barre as their first opponent of the day. With big hits and strong serves, New Kensington won all three sets, 25-5, 25-3, and 25-13.

The second game was more tedious for New Kensington, as they went up against Penn State Lehigh Valley. After losing two sets 25-14 and 25-18, they put up a big fight during third set, and it paid off. New Kensington won 25-23. Lehigh Valley came back in the fourth set and took the game, 25-19.

Throughout the day, Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) accounted for 32 kills. Flick, along with Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell), totaled up 11 service aces each.

New Kensington's libero, Bethany Baney (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area), led in digs, 18. Setting the whole way around the court, Lindsey Hessom contributed (Leechburg, Pa./ Kiski Area) 53 assists during the two matches.

The women will play two more matches tomorrow at 10 a.m. and 12 a.m. They will take on Penn State Scranton and Penn State York.
