MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto softball team dropped a home doubleheader to PSU Schuylkill on Monday evening by scores of 17-5 and 15-5.

Penn State Schuylkill 17, Penn State Mont Alto 5

• The offense got rolling right away today with Mont Alto tagging the PSU Schuylkill starter for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. A double steal plated the first run of the game and double from Megan Cornwell (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) gave her team the 4-0 lead.
• Schuylkill scored a pair in the top of the second but a Delaney Wagner (Lewistown, Pa. / Lewistown Area) single to center field put Mont Alto up 5-2.
• The visitors scored 15 unanswered runs to take the commanding lead, but eight of them came within the seventh inning. Seierra Santarsiero also tightened up her pitching within the circle, as she didn't allow a hit within the final five innings.
• Schuylkill finished with 18 hits and they scored the eight runs within the final inning on eight hits and were assisted by a PSUMA fielding error.

Penn State Mont Alto 15, Penn State Schuylkill 5

• Delaney Wagner (Lewistown, Pa. / Lewistown Area) and Katie McCauslin (Biglerville, Pa. / Biglerville) both finished 2-for-3 at the plate as McCauslin also recorded 3 RBIs. She was credited with giving up 15 runs, but only eight were earned as Mont Alto committed five errors in the loss.
• Schuylkill scored two runs in the first and scored four more to build a 6-1 lead. Mont Alto got back into things scoring a pair on Katie McCauslin (Biglerville, Pa. / Biglerville) single up the middle. The visitors made it 7-2 before scoring eight more runs in the sixth inning.
• PSUMA scored two runs of its own in the bottom half of the frame. Kyah Rucker (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna) drew a bases loaded walk and Brooklyn Wagner (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to left field.

The Penn State Mont Alto (8-26, 5-15 PSUAC) softball season came to a close this season, but the Nittany Lions will return several starters from this year's team to the 2020 roster as they look to continue their pursuit of a PSUAC title.
