GREENVILLE Pa.—The Penn State Beaver women's soccer team was shut out 6-0 in Wednesday's road game against Thiel College.
In the first, Thiel College netted a high right ball to land on the scoreboard first in the eighth minute. Beaver had trouble finding scoring opportunities in the remaining minutes of the first and stayed down by one goal at halftime. The Lady Lions didn't look any better in the second and gave up five goals over 14 minutes, giving them a 6-1 loss for the day.
Freshman Veronica Andujar (Weston/American Heritage Boca/Delray) finished with twos shot and one on goal while freshman Rachel Gaiser (Evans City/Seneca Valley) finished with one shot and on goal. Sophomore Stephanie Sosa-Bravo (New York/Grand St. Campus) also finished with one shot for the day.
At the net, freshman Megan Bartley (Austintown/Austintown Fitch) goaltended for 90 minutes, allowed six goals and had 17 save against the 23 SOG he faced.
Beaver falls to a 3-7 overall record and sits at 2-4 in the PSUAC rankings. The Lady Lions will host Mercyhurst Northeast University in their final game of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The match is slated for 2 p.m.
