Volleyball Player of the Week 9

Kira Eisenberg, Penn State York

First Year

Newville, Pa.

Penn State York captured the PSUAC Women's Volleyball championship powered by a strong offensive night from Kira Eisenberg. In her four sets played, Eisenberg hit .289 with 18 kills. Eisenberg also added five aces from the service line, which led her team. Eisenberg also tallied 14 kills in York's semifinal win over Penn State Fayette, hitting .270 for the week while added 17 digs as York picked up its first PSUAC Volleyball crown.

Volleyball Specialist of the Week 9

Joan Olson, Penn State York

First Year

Mechanicsburg, Pa.

First-year setter Joan Olson stood out in the PSUAC Tournament this week with a combined 83 assists over two games. In the tournament semifinal against Penn State Fayette, Olson led the team with 41 assists and added seven digs. In the tournament championship against Shenango, Olson followed it up with 42 assists and 14 digs.

Women’s Soccer Player of the Week 9

Makenzie Wechsler, Penn State Schuylkill

First Year 

Schnecksville, Pa.

First-year forward Makenzie Wechsler delivered a breakout performance this week, scoring four goals to lead Penn State Schuylkill to victory. Wechsler was a force on the attack, recording five shots on goal. Her efficiency and composure were capped off by the game-winning goal, showcasing poise beyond her years as she continues to make an immediate impact in her debut season.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week 9

Haley Sypniewski, Penn State Schuylkill

Third Year

Mount Carmel, Pa.

Haley Sypniewski tallied two shots on goal in a winning effort as she led a defense that provided a semifinal shutout, beating Penn State Beaver, 11-0 on Nov. 1. Penn State Schuylkill is currently on a five-game win streak and have led the team to an 11-5 record this season.

Men’s Soccer Player of the Week 9

Ethan Krystek, Penn State New Kensington 

Third Year 

Leechburg, Pa. 

Ethan Krystek led Penn State New Kensington to a 5-0 triumph over Penn State Beaver before a 2-0 win against defending conference champions Lehigh Valley. Against Beaver, Krystek recorded a hat trick, scoring on all three of his shots on goal. He registered two shots, tied for the team lead, in the victory over Lehigh Valley. New Kensington will play Penn State Scranton in the conference championship.

Kenton Knox, Penn State New Kensington

Kenton Knox helped his team to victory in two games this week against Penn State Beaver and Penn State Lehigh Valley. His shutouts helped lead Penn State New Kensington to a semifinal win over the defending PSUAC champions, Lehigh Valley.

Rookie of the Week 9

Mackenzie Wechsler, Penn State Schuylkill

First Year

Schnecksville, Pa. 

In the first round of the playoffs, Penn State Schuylkill defeated Penn State Beaver by a score of 11-0 and MacKenzie Wechsler notched four goals in the victory. The playoff performance was the most recent example of a strong 2025 campaign from the midfielder/forward, who has tallied 20 points on the season with nine goals and two assists.

Team of the Week 9

Penn State Mont Alto Women's Soccer

Penn State Mont Alto defeated New Kensington 7-1 to advance to its fifth consecutive conference championship game. Mont Alto went 6-2 in conference play and 11-5 overall. It will play a championship rematch against Penn State Schuylkill.
