Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week 5
Izzy Mauro, Penn State Shenango
First Year
Warren, Ohio
Middle hitter Izzy Mauro led the team to three victories during the week, including two important PSUAC victories. She totaled 38 kills during the three games, including 16 in a 3-0 decision over Penn State Fayette as Penn State Shenango remained unbeaten in conference play and held its place atop the West. The team also swept Penn State Greater Allegheny and beat CCBC during the week.

Women’s Volleyball Specialist of the Week 5
Jillian Palumbo, Penn State Shenango
First Year
Hubbard, Ohio
Outside hitter Jillian Palumbo contributed 18 digs and 16 serve receptions while making only one error as Penn State Shenango swept both Penn State Greater Allegheny and Penn State Fayette during the week to remain unbeaten in conference play. Shenango also earned a nonconference victory over CCBC during the week.

Kaylen Gracey, Penn State Mont Alto

Midfielder Kaylen Gracey scored three goals and added two assists during the week as Penn State Mont Alto went 1-1. She scored her team’s only goal in a hard-fought, 2-1 loss to Penn State Schuylkill and then scored two goals and two assists in a dominant effort against Penn State Hazleton.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week 5
Alexis Mariano, Penn State Mont Alto

Midfielder Alexis Mariano helped her team with strong play against Penn State Schuylkill in a tight 2-1 loss and then added more consistent play and leadership in a lopsided victory against Penn State Hazleton during the week. She scored a goal in that game — her fourth of the season.

Midfielder/forward Alex Brown scored both goals in his team’s come-from-behind victory against Christendom. His goals came on the only shots he took in the game. Both came in the second half, in the 76th and 82nd minutes, respectively, and second goal was his first game winner of the season. He’s scored five goals overall this season.

Goalkeeper Kenton know allowed just one goal and made four saves as Penn State New Kensington remained unbeaten in conference play with a 4-1 decision over Penn State Lehigh Valley. Knox has started eight games this season and has made 37 saves with a 1.93 goals-against average.

Runner of the Week 5
Lilley Anderson, Penn State Schuylkill
Second Year
Danville, Vermont
Lilly Anderson propelled Penn State Schuylkill to at top-10 team finish at the Highlander XC Invitational in Langhorn, Pa., by placing 15th overall in the 6K. She finished in 27:42.7, with a 7:26 average mile pace, on a demanding course.
Golfer of the Week 5
Jason Berkowitz, Penn State Scranton
First Year
Moscow, Pa.
Jason Berkowitz won the Blue Course Invitational, besting a field of 74 golfers by shooting a 74 at the event. He was one stroke better than four other golfers. It was his best round of the season in conference play, three strokes better than his effort at the White Course Invitational in September.
