Golfer of the Week 4

Jacob Bassham, Penn State Mont Alto

Third Year

Chambersburg, Pa.

Jacob Bassham shot a 2-under 68, leading all individual golfers by three strokes and helping his Penn State Mont Alto to a one-stroke victory over Penn State Dubois for the team title at the Penn State York Invitational. It was Bassham’s best round of the season, and he was the only golfer among 38 in the field to finish under par (70) on the 6,116-yard course.

 

Rookie of the Week 4

Madison Warnack, Penn State Schuylkill

First Year

Kingston, Pa

Forward/Midfielder Madison Warnack made a strong debut, scoring two goals against Penn State Beaver and helping her team to the shutout victory. Warnack started off the season strong, scoring her first goal in a conference game against Penn State Hazleton on Sept. 9. She has scored six goals this season with two assists.

Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week 4

Hannah Cramer, Penn State Fayette

Third Year

Brownsville, Pa.

Right-side hitter Hannah Cramer achieved her career highs in kills (9), digs (10), hitting percentage  (.412) and service aces (5), helping her team to a win against Penn State Greater Allegheny. This was Penn State Fayette's second victory of the week, after sweeping Penn State New Kensington. These two victories brought Fayette’s conference record to 4-1.

Women’s Volleyball Specialist of the Week 4

Sydney Tracey, Penn State Mont Alto 

First Year

York, Pa.

Sydney Tracey earned her first weekly award after an outstanding week, contributing to the team in three different areas. Tracey dished out 32 assists, dug out 24 digs and served an incredible 16 aces during four matches for Penn State Mont Alto last week. Her efforts helped Mont Alto go 3-1 overall, including two conference wins.

Women’s Soccer Player of the Week 4

Nia Bronson, Penn State Schuylkill

Fifth Year

Pine Grove, Pa.

Nia Bronson totaled 17 points in Penn State Schuylkill’s three games last week, including hat tricks against Penn State New Kensington and Keystone College. She leads the team in total points with 26 and goals with 12.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week 4

Hayley Sypniewski, Penn State Schuylkill 

Third Year 

Mount Carmel, Pa. 

Hayley Sypniewski tallied two goals on six shots on goal as Penn State Schuylkill went 2-0 last week. The defender propelled Schuylkill’s back line to allow just one goal in two outings. The team extended its win streak to four with a 10-1 win over Keystone and a 10-0 triumph against Penn State Beaver. Penn State Schuylkill sits tied for first in the PSUAC standings with a 3-0 record in conference play.

Men’s Soccer Player of the Week 4

Michael Damoah, Penn State Greater Allegheny

Second Year

Stafford, Va.

Michael Damoah, a midfielder/forward, scored three goals this week, two of which were game winners against Penn State Scranton and Penn State Schuylkill. He also tallied in an assist to help clinch the two victories. Damoah has 13 points this season after his strong showings this past week.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week 4

Matthew Johnston, Penn State Greater Allegheny

First Year

Elizabeth, Pa.

Goalkeeper Matthew Johnston helped Penn State Greater Allegheny as he made three starts and helped his team to a 2-1 week. He made 27 combined saves in the games and posted a 1.67 goals-against average as his team made its way up the table in the standings after handing Penn State Scranton its first conference loss of the season.

In a dominant stretch, Penn State Schuylkill women’s soccer ran off a four-game win streak, pouring in 20 goals while allowing just one goal over the final two matches. Their offensive firepower and stifling defense together delivered a statement run and underscored their push for position in the conference.
