Penn State Mont Alto Takes Third Straight PSUAC Women's Soccer Title

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Panzer Stadium has seen plenty of lacrosse history made on its turf since it was built. Penn State Mont Alto's Grace Lochner was set on creating some soccer magic at the University Park Division I stadium.

Lochner finished with a hat trick en route to leading her team to a 4-0 win over Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday in the PSUAC Women's Soccer Championship. Lochner's first goal came less than five minutes into the match, finding the back of the net after a throw in, beating her opponent to the ball and popping it over the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

After a nearly 30 minute hiatus in scoring, Lochner found the net again for Mont Alto in the 33rd minute before teammate Alexis Mariano scored five minutes later for a 3-0 advantage. Then, with less than 30 seconds, Lochner struck again on a breakaway to give the defending champions a 4-0 lead heading into the half.

Brandywine would break up the shutout in the 86th minute as Zoey Lineman hammered it into the net on a penalty kick, but Avery Diehl put Mont Alto right back up by four with a goal off a Mont Alto corner kick in the 88th minute.

Kiaya Mouer finished with four saves for Mont Alto in the win. Mont Alto outshot Brandywine 7-5 and had two more corners with six.

Mont Alto will represent the PSUAC as they earn the conference's automatic bid into the USCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship set to start on November 17th in Pittsburgh, Pa.
