Beaver Captures PSUAC Women's Soccer Championship in Shootout

State College, Pa. - Through 110 minutes of a one-one deadlock, the Penn State Beaver Lions reigned in the first ever Penn State University Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship after a 2-0 penalty-kick battle.

In the eighth minute of the contest, Brandywine's Mary Mitcheli received a pass from Ami Iannello, where she worked the ball from the left side and put it over the hands of the goalkeeper, 1-0 Brandywine.

With just two minutes left in the first half, Beaver's Marissa Bucklen hammered a long pass to the upper 90 of the net, 1-1 tie.

The second half along with the next two overtime periods ending in a draw, sending the game into penalty kicks.

Through regulation, each team managed to post 14 shots, Brandywine out-aiming Beaver 11-7. 

Beaver's Sadie Stillwagon and Bucklen were quick to pull the trigger, as the #2 seed quickly found themselves ahead 2-0. Goalkeeper Brittany Zahn disregarded all four attempts, holding the shootout to a clean slate.

Zahn advanced her overall record to 8-7-1, as she stopped five through the final game of the season. Brandywine's Alyssa Abbonizio posted ten saves through the 110 minute bout.

S. Stillwagon, Harden and Jessica Spina all recorded three shots a piece for Beaver in the championship. Arianna Segich and Olivia Encarnacion paced the offense for Brandywine with three shots each
