Beaver loses to Mercyhurst

Rochester, PA- Penn State Beaver women's soccer loses to Mercyhurst NE after a well-played match.

Throughout the match Beaver's defense played well to rival Mercyhurst's offense. In the first half Beaver held off any points until the 21:44 mark when Mercyhurst scored. That point was followed by another 10 minutes later at the 32:59 mark. Mercyhurst held the lead at the end of the first half.

In the second half Mercyhurst continued to send shots to the net, with 13 shots. Beaver let another shot get to the net and end in a score at the 52:40 mark. Mercyhurst would score again six minutes later to give them the lead but that was where Beaver would stop their scoring efforts. At the 58:58 mark, Beaver's Miranda Robson (Rochester, PA/Rochester) would finally answer Mercyhurst's numerous goals. Unfortunately they couldn't capitalize on any other attempts. The final score was 4-1, Mercyhurst.

Beaver's goalie Rachel Borrell (Philadelphia, PA/East Downingtown) stopped 16 of the 20 shots on goal, which kept the lead that Mercyhurst had low.

Beaver's next and final match is against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday, October 23 at 4 p.m.
