SPARKILL, N.Y. – Despite 13 saves from freshman keeper Colleen Bowes (Wayne), the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's soccer team lost 2-1 in overtime to Div. II St. Thomas Aquinas Sunday. The Spartans dominated shooting totaling 28 to Penn College's 14. Freshman Kierstin Craig-Sovic (Selinsgrove) scored the lone goal for the Lady Wildcats. With the loss, the team ends the regular season 9-6-2.
Craig-Sovic scored the only goal of the first half netting one off a free kick outside of the box in the 18th. St. Thomas outshot Penn College 14-7. Bowes made six saves in the half to preserve the lead.
Out of the break, Paige Montillo equalized scoring off a pass from Vicky Saravia in the 53rd. Neither team was able to end the game in regulation. In the half, the Spartan's just outshot Penn College 11-7. Bowes made five more saves.
St. Thomas scored the game-winner in the 95th when Danielle Stam rebounded her own shot.
Next up, Penn College will see if it has earned an at-large bid for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Championships. Bids will be announced Monday, Oct. 21.
