Women’s Soccer: Beddow Scores in 90th to Lift Lady Wildcats Over Carlow 3-2

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Robyn Beddow (Lancaster) scored in the 90th minute to help the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Carlow University Saturday. Beddow scored from sophomore Madilyn Walters (Lewistown) who had a breakaway and pulled the keeper out before sending the pass over to Beddow for the open netter. Beddow and Walters combined for all the goals for Penn College with the former notching two. With the win, the Lady Wildcats improve to 6-4 overall.

Penn College scored its first two goals in the opening minutes of the first half with Walters getting it started on a breakaway off a pass from Beddow in the 2nd. Just eight minutes later it was the exact same goal except Beddow had the breakaway from Walters. Carlow (3-4) outshot the Lady Wildcats 13-4 in the half but was unable to get anything past freshman keeper Colleen Bowes (Wayne) who made seven saves.

That all changed out of the break when the Celtics scored back-to-back goals in the 49th and 53rd minutes. They again dominated play with 15 shots to Penn College's two. With the game looking to go into overtime, it was Walters who was able to break free of a scrum at mid-field to steal victory.

Bowes ended the game with nine saves and the win.

Next up, Penn College travels to College of St. Elizabeth on Thursday, Oct. 10 for a 3 p.m. match.
