Women’s Soccer: Lady Wildcats Record Historic Victory Against Lycoming College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – For the first time in Pennsylvania College of Technology history, the women's soccer team defeated Lycoming College 3-1 Wednesday in the annual Battle for the Lumber. Freshman Kelsea Robbins (Milton) recorded the game winner for the team that came in the 57^th. This is the second straight year the Lady Wildcats have won the Battle tying 0-0 last year but winning in a shootout. With the win, Penn College improves to 5-4 overall.  

Sophomore Madilyn Walters (Lewistown) got the ball rolling scoring in the 9^th on a breakaway from a pass by Robbins. Lycoming's (1-8) Kaitlyn Gulotta equalized in the 43^rd before going into the break.

Penn College wasted no time in the second half with Robbins taking a cross from Walters to the back of the net. Less than 30 seconds later, junior Valeria Passalacqua (McAlisterville) took a pass from sophomore Robyn Beddow (Lancaster) high into the center of the goal.

Sophomore Reda Vermilya (Turbotville) and freshman Colleen Bowes (Wayne) split the game in goal with Vermilya recording two saves and Bowes one. For the game, Penn College and the Warriors totaled 12 shots.

The Lady Wildcats now improve to1-5-1 in the series against Lycoming.

Next up, Penn College hosts Carlow University on Saturday, Oct. 5 for a 4 p.m. match.
